Here Come Yet Another Judge…

Ever notice that putative Nevada governor Jim Gibbons can't do anything without getting a judge involved? Like, get divorced, grope unwilling gals in a garage, wear a napkin hat at a lovely cruise sponsored by a very generous defense contractor/guber enabler, keep an illegal in the basement, usurp Legislative powers, and, just now, monkey with state [...]

Too Late

The governor’s using that Legal Defense Slush Fund to try to dismiss Chrissy Mazzeo’s suit against the Guber for his unwanted grope-attack at McCormick and Schmick’s. The grounds for dismissal?  That the suit is “ludicrous” and is  merely an attempt at “disparaging the reputation and character of the governor.” (Sun)

Woah, they’re way too late. The gube [...]

The Rotten Nevada Apple Never Falls Far From the Tree

KLAS TeeVee is reporting an item that Ralston's been flashing today. Lt. Gube Brian Krolicki is the second Nevada scumbag who feels the need to create a Legal Defense Slush Fund to solicit gold from wingnut moneybags types to pay his overpriced celebrity attorneys. That's sort of a paraphrase.

Krolicki only has until January 1st to [...]

Governor Breaks Written Promise to Nevada Citizens

“Yawn. What, again?” You’re sayin’.

This time it’s in writing.

According to Anjeanette Damon, the Governor will not be handing in a report about his legal defense slush fund 2.0.

Because he’s not on the ballot, Gibbons is required to file those reports only once a year. His accountant David Turner told me not much activity has occurred there [...]

Coming Up Short

Uh-oh. Looks like the Governor’s legal defense slush fund’s going to be a little short.

Over in California, Representative Jerry Lewis, one of Gibbers’ old pals from Congress, has accrued over a million dollars in legal fees dealing with his Gibbons-like federal investigation into possible briberation from the likes of Brent Wilkes. (TPM)

Better call up Whittemore and [...]

Pokin’ at the Legal Defense Fund Report

Lots of readers have already been finding fun facts about the Illuminati that chuck money into the Governor’s ever-necessary legal defense fund. Here’s some of the highlights.

First, the bundling rant: According to the Legal Defense Fund law passed by the legislature just last year (NRS 294A.287), the maximum that anyone can donate to the fund in [...]

Slush Fund Report Up

You can learn who’s been giving to the Governor’s Legal Defense Slush Fund by digging through his Finance Disclosure Report over at the Secretary of State’s site. Check out the last two three pages.

Sheldon Adelson‘s bundled up at least $40,000 $50,000 $40,000 (grr…can’t add) for the fund. And there are a lot of other familiar names, [...]

Category E Felony

Governor Jim Gibbons signed a document
last year stating that he understood that if he willfully violated the law
requiring that he report who is dumping money into his legal defense
slush fund, that he’d be committing a category E felony.

That law requires that he file a report on January 15th, 2008. It is now January 16th, 2008, and [...]

The Governor’s Man in Higher Ed

The Very Model of a Modern Major Chancellor has had a dust up or two with Regent Bret Whipple, the RJ tells us today. Nevada Higher Ed Czar Jim Rogers even went so far as to call Whipple the Governor’s toady. Or words to that effect.

Whipple denied the charge although he’s hosted one of those "Spring [...]

State Senate Could Use a Case of the Blues

Ralston makes the case for turning the State Senate blue today as he trots out his semi-annual harangue about Nevada’s screwed up campaign reporting. We learn that the Governor has a "secret money machine" sucking up cash from pharmaceutical companies and whoever is dumping funds into the Gube’s legal defense slush fund.

Last week [Gibbons] raised money [...]
