In a recent article in Reno News and Review, followed by an appearance on Pate to Pate, alleged Jim Gibbons’ paramour Kathy Karrasch “told all” about her relationship with the gregarious gube. Of course, “told all” amounted to setting up a spin like unto a tire in the desert, so that more dust than light was thrown over the gov’s checkered past.

Nonetheless, the Gov came out of the folderol looking like a lying skank.

Despite his protests to the contrary, Gibbons was clearly working it with Karrasch while still married to the Dawnster despite the fact Karasch-apparently–showed the good taste to tell him to buzz off.

Oh, remember how Gibbers keeps saying he’s all monastic and platonic and stuff? Have a look at a letter penned by Karrasch herself in which she admits Gibbons is a dating fool and that all that sexting between the two was not so innocent as she claimed.

Meanwhile, Gibbons trotted out the usual voter initiative thingy he uses as a trick to gain voter attention. Remember the supermajority requirement for tax increases and “education first”? Both were voter initiatives dreamed up by Gibbons during election campaigns. So far he’s only had 50% success with that ploy since he lost his first election to Bob Miller while sticking us with the 2/3rd majority idiocy. Looks likes he’s working on a 1/3rd success rate.

This time the initiative is aimed at requiring more government transparency by making government-union salary negotiations public. (Sun) Of course, this is coming from a gube who’s spent the last three years covering up e-mails and texts–and years prior to that using government secrecy to fund gonzo projects without any public scrutiny. But, remember, this isn’t about policy; it’s about getting elected.

Meanwhile, a Gibbons connection to Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan showed up today. Apparently one discredited journalist Byron York dug up some unsubstantiated claim that Kagan while working in the Clinton White House defended someone who leaked some information to an “eco-terrorist” group during an investigation of same.

It turns out the allegations were an invention of a congressional task force created by discredited Representative Don Young. Guess who Young appointed to run the task force? One discredited backbencher named Jim Gibbons.

Democrats considered the task force such a witch hunt that they refused to take part.

Committee ranking Democrat George Miller (Calif.) has criticized the creation of the task force for prolonging a matter the committee already had spent more than a year investigating, excluding Democrats from the reasoning behind holding more hearings, and issuing subpoenas for information without holding committee votes, he said.

Miller wrote Young on March 4 saying he would not “legitimize” the proceedings by appointing a Democratic member to the task force.

“We consider it an absolute waste of time,” Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.), in whose district the protest took place, said after the task force went into executive session. “They are acting as though this is a grand jury,” he said of the task force’s security measures. “If the Forest Service is found to have made any mistakes, that should be conducted in public,” DeFazio said. Of course, Mr. Transparency Gibbons, the fellow with the new open gov initiative and the man who criticized the legislature for private meetings, immediately moved to keep the task force meetings secret. Yep. Can’t be too careful when investigating hippies. Naturally, Media Matters goes on to list just a few of Gibbons’ ethical lapses, just to prove how well qualified he was to run a monkey trial.

Meanwhile, the LA TImes notes that the Gube is not dead yet, at least he wasn’t before he started accusing Sandoval of being a Nazi sympathizer. Hey, you blink and Gibbons is gaffing it up again.

Meanwhile, the only people left who support Gibbons admit he’s a loser.

Looks like it's time to dust off the old Gibbons' frog-march pic, again.

The Reno-Gazette Journal has moved it's suit to force the Guv to hand over e-mails written on a government computer, using government software, using a government LAN and a government Internet connection to us, the folks who paid for all that, thank you very much. (Sun)

A District judge earlier denied the bulk of the Journal's suit and required only six out of 104 e-mails need be surrendered by the Gube. The RGJ is now taking the next step by asking the Nevada Supreme Court to reconsider District Judge James Russell's decision.

The paper was looking for e-mails between Gibbers and his sexting gal-pals Kathy Karrasch and Leslie Durant. They also wanted to see e-mails between the Gube and Warren Trepp. (Sun)

Oh, the lovely Trepp e-mails. You'll want to have a trip down memory lane with those beauties. Why not go have a peek right now over at the Sun? It's probably the only chance you'll get to see how Jimbo does his bidness when he thinks nobody's looking.

I can't wait to see our dear old Nevada Attorney General stand up for old Gibbers and claim the e-mails aren't public records. (1stAmend) Shouldn't the office be telling the Gube that if he wants to sext, he can buy his own blackberry and not squander public resources?

Elsewhere: Lookee! Another incompetent state exec who can't get anything through the Legislature–unfortunately this time it's campaign reform. (Sun) Guess we'll see SoS Ross Miller's crank out the same old campaign promises about campaign reform we saw last election, given he'll have broken all of 'em by then.

At least Senate and Assembly folk were happy to admit in public that they are idiots and can't run a computer:

Assembly Committee on Elections, Procedures and Ethics, said her
committee spent four hearings trying to address all the concerns
lawmakers had.

“I was amazed at the people who didn’t want to do electronic
filing,” Koivisto said. “These were the same people sitting there with
laptops every day, doing all kinds of things … The excuse was so many
of our people live way out somewhere and don’t have Internet access. My
response to that? Bull.

Oh wait. Did I say "idiots"? I meant "liars".

Anyways, the Sun has a bunch of polls about the Gib-texting along with its morning rehash of the Gube interview yesterday. At the risk of undermining the scientific integrity of the polls, head on over and vote like a VGO reader would vote, namely, Vote Gibbons Out. (Sun)

What Gibbers' handler had the bright idea of letting the Gube out of his cage, today?

I mean, come on guys. You know what happens when he has a press conference. Either he bumbles through it murmuring in a monotone about some item totally irrelevant or useful to the daily life of the average Nevadan, or, if a reporter actually asks him a question, he goes into "you won't have Dick Nixon to kick around any more" mode and sulks out.

Gibbers was channeling Milhous again today as the story of the 867 text messages to his officially-denied honey bunch forced him out from under his rock.

O, the horror. We witness the Gube dodging questions, becoming combative when caught out with some gal pals, and finally resorting to the ludicrous claim that Ms. Karrasch is some kind of expert adviser on "taxation" and "personal management." (Sun,RGJ)

Yeah, and Monica Lewinsky was just some kind of fancy humidor?

Oh, and we learn that Gibbons is some kind of vampire, able to survive on a mere few hours of sleep per night.

Frankly, sleep deprivation would explain a lot, but it's a lie. Remember the caffeine-jitters induced by an energy drink Midnight Jim needed to keep awake during the midnight swearing in? Where were his amazing powers of wakefulness back then?

So, here's my advice. The Governor should get some sleep and stop staying up late listening to the voices in his head. And Kickheifer and the gang should lock him in the Gube manse and never, ever let him out in public again.

Everybody else? Make it a full time job to get rid of him ASAP ;P

Governor Stalker

So today we learn that the reason Gibbons' stopped texting his
Mazzeo-like honey so suddenly was because he was probably freaking her
out with his creepy stalker-like, midlife-crisis fueled obsessive
attentions. (RJ)
Well, I may be reading between the lines a bit there, but close enough.
Does anyone else detect a pattern here? Assaults in garages, obsessive
stalking, irrational fighting with the wife. Anyone?
Thought the eTreppid thing went away? Nope. Dennis Montgomery and
his former partner Warren Trepp were in federal court fighting over a
box full of data. (RGJ) I hope the FBI working the Gibbons' bribery case are taking notes.

Your Tax Dollars At…Play

Yup, aren’t you glad your tax dollars are going to pay for the latest technology to keep your governor in constant communication…with his paramour?

The budget crunch will require Nevada kids to go without all day kindergarten, and universities to go without, um, universities, but don’t you dare touch the governor’s phone money cuz he’s got to stay in touch with his honey. And I don’t mean wifey. (RGJ)

So, the governor shoots off several hundred text messages to Kathy Karrasch and they are “unavailable.” That means the governor can simply delete government documents off of his state of Nevada phone?

Better keep him away from the office shredder. Sounds like unlawful destruction of government property to me. Ain’t that a felony?

[UPDATE: looks more and more like the Gube wantonly destroyed the evidence. No record of the emails exists, claims ATT, on its servers, and the Governor–or some hapless member of the state’s IT staff–quickly erased them off his phone. (INP,LVG).

Next question for the Gube team: you guys running Gwava’s Retain on your servers??
