Goober’s Lawsuits Will Outlast Him

The Nevada Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Reno Gazette-Journal in its lawsuit against putative Nevada governor Jim Gibbons. Gibbers will be required to hand over papers about his mysteriously disappearing gun permit. (RGJ)

You all will no doubt dimly recall that there were questions about how Gibbons was able to obtain a concealed weapons’ permit without completing all of the required training in 2008. Gibbons later gave up the permit when his lack of training became public. And then there’s this intriguing, cryptic sentence from the Associated Press:

[Washoe County Sheriff Mike] Haley has declined to comment on the status of Gibbons’ permit and has interpreted the confidentiality law so broadly that he also won’t discuss whether his office took action against the firearms instructor who improperly signed off on Gibbons’ weapons proficiency test in order for him to obtain the permit. (AP)

Gibbons has quite the record from corrupting law enforcement officials throughout the state, don’t he? There was the Clark County Sheriff and the District Attorney who got splattered by the mud from the garage grope, and then there was that Nevada Public Safety guy who lost all the guns and drugs. And staff in-kind contributions to the campaign and the Gube’s private suit against health care, and the missing sexting logs, and the inappropriate firings, and, and and.

Still, what a wonderful opportunity to rerun an old Gibbons’ Country:

We are SO gonna miss that turd.

Brendan Riley takes on the thankless task of trying to explain the Gube and his divorce to non-Nevadans. (AP) Now, all we need is somebody to explain it to us.
Dawn’s mouthpiece wants a change of venue from Carson City to Washoe County, where the events that led Gibbers to file papers "accrued." (INP,RGJ) Hey, if you guys want a real change in venue, send it down here! I wonder if they let people watch a sealed trial? Do they allow popcorn?

Naturally, Gibbons’ gun instructor was among the 10,000 or so who served on a transition team. (INP)

UPDATE: the Reno Gazette Journal is suing to get the Sheriff of Washoe County to disclose the status of the Gube’s concealed weapons permit. (INP)

Didn’t Notice He Was Missing, Did Ya?

Governor Jim Gibbons of Nevaahda was over in Texas for the Republican Gubathon the past few days. Which means Vice Gube Krolicki was in the driver’s seat. Hope the Gov has Treasurer Kate Marshall look over his office real good on his return. You know, just to see if anything is missing, or if she can find a couple of million under the sofa cushions. Wow–a whole lot of oil people got to talk to the Republican Gubes, too!
Gube refuses Vice Presidency, although nobody was really offering it. (CFG)
Hunter factions are fighting each other over who should be on the state wildlife commission. (FoxReno) One charming group vying for influence on the commission described efforts to protect wildlife as money spent on "tweety birds" and "guppies." No doubt the Governor will be sympathetic to such seductive rhetoric.
The hunters should call up the folks over at the Orleans casino. A few phone calls to the Governor’s chief of staff scared off state inspectors. (Sun) Once again, Gibbon’s Country is eerily prophetic.
