Usually the silly season shows up at the end of the Legislative session, not at the beginning. But, then, it's only the second time that a half-term lameduck has been gube during the festivities, and da gube seems committed to making this the goofiest session ever.
Just look at what's going on:
- Gibbons appoints pro-Yucca Mountain Waste party-hack to Nye County Commission. (INP,Gube,NVDems) So, the question is, has the Gube decided to go pro-Yucca–as the winnowing of the anti-Nuke office seems to indicate–or is this just another case of the Gibbers failing to actually read the bios of his appointees before appointing them? Well, at least it wasn't as bad as the last time the Gube appointed somebody from Nye to something. Remember when he appointed pro-Yucca Nye county commissioner Joni Eastley to the Nevada Projects Division–you know, the anti-Nuke office Gibbons is now trying to kill off? (VGO)
- Gibbons is ordered to show up to court in the case of Mary Keating, the state employee who claims she was fired by the Gube and his human piñata Andrew Clinger for outing the Guv's addiction to stalking Chrissy Mazzeo lookalikes via the text messaging function on his state owned cell. (AP) Keating's lawyer Cal Dunlap, who is also representing the estranged Gube's spouse in the Gibberses' divorce, had this to say in response to the claim that the Gube was too busy screwing up the budget to show up in court: "As we know, (Gibbons) has a great deal of skill texting messages,
which he can do from here to deal with other government issues." - This may be as good a time as any to disclaim: I am not Cal Dunlap.
- Idiot judge ignores the fact that citizens of Nevada own the computer, the email server, and the damn keypad Gibbers types his emails on and decides that the Reno-Gazette Journal can only have a peek at 6 out of 104 official state emails between Gibbers and the likes of Warren Trepp. (AP,INP) Hey, did you guys in Carson know you can vote Judge James Todd Russell out of our lives forever? So, what's stopping ya?
- Go Heck! The prospect of watching Joe Heck, Mike Montandon, and the Gibbons beat up on each other during the Republican primary will make even the gloomiest days of the Second Great Depression a little brighter. (INP)
- Woah. Good thing Gibbons doesn't govern by polls. He'd resign immediately if he did. (INP) Wait. Did I say that was a good thing?!?
- So, who's running the betting pool as to when Josh Hicks jumps ship? (Sun)
