Homely Bird Makes Annual Eastern Pilgrimage

Following weird instincts only known to itself, the Nevada Loony Grouse, pictured to the right, made its annual pilgrimage to Washington, D.C. this week. (RGJ)

UNR biologists, who believe that the bird is the unholy offspring of the Rogich Twitgibber and the Adelson Green Breasted Votesnatcher, speculate that the homely bird makes the annual trek in order to preen itself before like minded avians in Washington, who share its territorial hatred of the Nevada Sage Grouse. At least, that appeared to be the reason for its similar trip last year.

Experts, however, are skeptical about the future of the odd species. Voting pattern alterations in Northern Nevada along with predicted climate change in Washington, could spell doom for the creature. In addition, the bird has exhibited an almost suicidally aberrant behavior in that it has abandoned its own mate, an action that has led to a bitter fight over their old nest.

Indeed, there are rumors that after the fall voting season passes, Nevada Democrats and not a few Republicans may allow unlimited hunting of the ugly bird.

"Not too soon," said one DRI scientist. "That thing has been fouling our nest for way too long."

A foul fowl indeed.

Public land is public land! The public can decide what amounts can be open to cheap fee grazing that benefits private companies OR it can close up grazing land for sage grouses.
Bet Gibbons is using his office to fight for his like minded grazing buddies! Doesn’t he have to register as a lobbyist for the Nevada Cattleman’s Association first?
