Resignation demand evidence of a grudge:
Regarding Gov. Gibbons’ call for the resignation of Tony Clark from the Board of Medical Examiners.
In truth, he is still holding a 13-year-old grudge against former Adj. Gen. Clark for honoring a prior agreement between Jim and his commander at the Reno Air Base that he would retire from the Air Guard as a full colonel. Gibbons then charged Gen. Clark and Gov. Miller with making him resign because he was running against Miller for governor, a fabrication created by Gibbons to solicit sympathy in his futile bid for governor (RGJ, Jan. 30, 1995).
In my almost 38 years with the Guard and 10 years working directly for Gen. Clark, I saw firsthand the integrity and dedication Tony Clark has for his state and nation, traits which he has carried all his professional life. I worked with hundreds of men and women in the Nevada Air and Army Guard who had those qualities as well, and only one who did not.
Many of us have known for years how vindictive Gibbons can be, but this is truly bizarre. I am ashamed to call this man our governor and am looking forward to the next election.
