In or Out of the Loop?

Continuing to drive under the influence, the Gibbons’ administration sputtered it’s way through it’s latest mini-scandal as bewildered Nevadans learned of the appointment of the unqualified Joe Enge to a post in the state’s energy department. (Sun)

What’s truly amusing is watching Gibbons distance himself from the appointment. On Monday we read in Inside Nevada Politics:

[Gibbers' Spokester] Subbotin said [Nevada Energy Czarina Hatice] Gecol discussed the appointment with Gibbons, who signed off on the hire. (INP)

In today’s Sun, however, we learn:

Gibbons’ spokeswoman said he
didn’t know about Enge’s hire until after it occurred, nor did Gibbons
know much of Enge’s background.

So, he signed off on the hire without knowing much of Enge’s background? Really? Does this mean the Governor doesn’t read Liberty Watch?? No wonder George Harris liked Bob Beers better.

Another oddity: what about that hiring time-line? Apparently Gecol was interviewing to replace Enge’s qualified predecessor Raj Mehta a month before she told Mehta to quit. And Gecol claims Mehta wanted to quit, but he says she told him to quit so that she could have someone full time in the office.

Or…did she just want somebody more sympathetic with her political views?

And did you see it? Democrats actually criticizing America’s Worst Governor! What have they been drinking? I hope they have a designated driver!

I worked with Raj Mehta. Very intelligent man. It’s a shame he had to work for that idiot Director that Gibbons hired. The one who needs someone to help her manage a tiny office of people. Yet another joke.
