All in the Family

Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons insisted on making yet another appointment to his shaky administration today. And he just made it shakier.

Gibbons has appointed Stacie Truesdell to the Taxicab Authority. The Taxicab Authority  has caused Gibbers problems before. Gibbons axed Richard Land, the Authority's chief, in March with his usual lack of class. Gibbons sent an underling with the pink slip and, of course, the reasons for the removal were non-existent. (RJ) That's because reason is non-existent in the Gube mansion.

Truesdell is perhaps best known for her failed run for the Las Vegas City Council. Questions arose during the campaign about her close ties to developers and her campaign tactics:

Stacie Truesdell's ties to
developers and her campaign tactics raise questions about her fitness
to serve on the Las Vegas City Council, her opponents say as the Ward 5
race enters its final days.

The Rancho Manor Neighborhood Association and Unity in the Community
II say Truesdell's job as a lawyer who represents developers will
hamper her ability to be effective in a ward where growth is critical.

The groups also are upset that Truesdell's camp revealed personal
information about her opponent, Ricki Barlow, and his family on her
campaign Web site.

And they complain that Las Vegas Planning Commissioner Rick
Truesdell, the candidate's father, placed an angry phone call to Barlow
in response to one of Barlow's campaign fliers. (Sun)

During the campaign, Truesdell's staff somehow posted the social security numbers of her opponent's ex-wife and kid on the Internets, and because Truesdell's dad sits on the Las Vegas Planning Commission, that raised all sorts of interesting conflict-of-interest questions, although, no doubt, he was just protecting his little girl from that mean old Ricki Barlow, her opponent, when he made the call. (RJ)

Truesdell also works for the law firm of Jones Vargas. Yep, that's the law firm whose ties to Gibbons' Pygmalion (Victor Frankenstein?) Sig Rogich raised eyebrows during the Mazzeo meltdown. It was a JV lawyer that delivered the mysterious vanishing video tapes to the cops after they went missing a few days.

All an incredible cosmic coincidence, no doubt. But, another heck of a pick, Gov'nor! Especially after that top secret Efstratis appointment.
