Jon Porter, R-Abramoff, is sponsoring H. Res 781 "Congratulating charter schools and their students, parents, teachers,
and administrators across the United States for their ongoing
contributions to education, and for other purposes."
I’m just wondering if that includes Team Academy and the four other charter schools that failed in Nevada since 1997 and led to accusations of ethics violations by school board members? Or all of the charter schools in Clark County that have failed to meet State laws?
And why Porter? Maybe those Yucca hearings are going so bad he had to find something else to do. And there are no more lunches with Abramoff and DeLay to attend. Gotta fill up that legislative day with something, I guess.
Oh wait, there’s phony lobbying reform, pointless subsidies for refineries, and tax cuts for those rich enough to have fat stock portfolios, capital gains, or own a credit card company. (Gleaner)
Jon Porter, Nevada’s own busy bee.
[UPDATE: The resolution was agreed to 417 to 1 making it one of those feel-good resolutions, like naming Post Offices or congratulating Italy for hosting the Olympics, which signify nothing. I suppose the Republican leadership let Porter bring it up so that he could look like he's doing something. Frankly, it's a wonder we let Congress waste its time and our money on such nonsense. Good old Kucinich was the single vote against.]
